First lady feud: Here's the history of Trump's battling wives
Despite Ivana's comments slamming Maples as she promotes her new book, "Raising Trump," it doesn't seem like Donald's second wife is taking the bait. Her most recent Instagram is a video of flowers with the caption "Beauty is everywhere… We just have to be willing to see it."
"Would I straighten up the White House in 14 days? Absolutely," Ivana told ABC's "Good Morning America." "Can I give the speech for 45 minutes without [a] teleprompter? Absolutely. Can I read a contract? Can I negotiate? Can I entertain? Absolutely. But I would not really like to be there. I like my freedom."
With Ivana's recent comments, it seems Donald's first wife is ready for another feud — or feuds.
“She can’t talk, she can’t give a speech, she doesn’t go to events, she doesn’t (seem to) want to be involved,” Ivana told a New York Daily Mail insider in 2015, as Donald ramped up his campaign efforts.
Ivana told the New York Post she was "never happier in my life" than when Maples was quickly eliminated on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2016.
Maples "asked to apologize to me in the Daily Mail in London. They asked if I accepted the apology and I said no. Why should I? She broke my marriage!” Ivana told the New York Post in 2015.
When Maples and Trump announced their divorce in 1997, three years after Tiffany's birth, Donald took issue with Ivana "crowing" to the press.
“The children are all wrecks,” Ivana told gossip columnist Liz Smith. "Ivanka now comes home from school crying, ‘Mommy, does it mean I’m not going to be Ivanka Trump anymore?’ Little Eric asks me, ‘Is it true you are going away and not coming back?’"
Following her high-profile divorce in 1991, Ivana never forgave Marla Maples. Ivana slammed the younger woman to the press countless times, despite Maples' apologies.
The scandal played out in the tabloids for weeks.
"Ivana confronted her, demanding, 'You b----, leave my husband alone,'" People reported in early 1991. Trump reportedly overheard the confrontation and attempted to ski away, but Ivana is said to have chased him down the mountain "wagging her finger in his face."
Ivana met Maples — and had her suspicions about her husband's affair confirmed — on a ski trip in Aspen in 1990. Apparently, Donald had hoped to avoid confrontation despite the fact both his wife and his mistress were in the same ski town.
Maples was a young model, 14 years Ivana's junior.
However, while Donald outwardly praised Ivana at the time, he was having an affair with another woman: Marla Maples.
The couple had three children: Donald Jr., Ivanka (whose actual name is Ivana Marie), and Eric. Ivana also worked with Donald to develop the Trump Organization, as vice president of interior design.
She and Donald Trump — then a young real estate developer — were married 1977.
Ivana moved to the US in the early 1970s, when she was working as a model and ski instructor.
