On page SEO refers to rank factors that are present on each page of your website. Among the most important is your content. Each page of content should be fresh and engaging and be focused on a specific keyword phrase. You don’t want to overuse the keyword phrase in your content. The practice or keyword overuse is referred to as keyword stuffing and it can hurt rather than help your search engine ranking for that specific keyword.

Google can now better understand what users are looking for and if your content meets their criteria. The best thing you can do is to create quality content that is also user-friendly. Your content should be focused and serve a purpose, even on your static pages. You can also use a blog to update content frequently. We suggest posting to your blog at least once a week.

On-page linking

On-page linking refers to linking to relevant pages on your own site. These are otherwise known as internal links. You will also want to link to external sites. Make sure you use relevant anchor text and only link to pages that help the end user further understand the topic. You don’t want to just link for the sake of linking. That will not help your on page SEO. In fact, it can hurt you. The links must be relevant and useful.

Heading Tags

If you’re unfamiliar with HTML, this may be a little difficult to understand. However, there are certain tags that you should get to know when writing web pages and blog pages. These include the heading tags. Use the H1 tag for the title at the top of the page and make sure the title includes your keyword. You should also use the H2 tags for any sub-headings in your content. This helps end users scan the content quickly and find what they’re looking for much more easily. You can also use H3 tags as necessary. They belong in sections headed by an H2 tag.

Media Optimization

Media makes your web pages more attractive and engaging. You want to use media on every web page. It can be photo or video or a combination of the two.  Effective on-page media has a multi-prong effect. It keeps users from quickly bouncing off your site, keeps users on pages longer, and makes your page more attractive to other websites that may link back to your page.

Alt Attribute

This is a short description of the image. You provide it to describe images to visually-impaired visitors. However, search engines use the alt attribute as a ranking factor as well. Please include a keyword in the description if you can.

Word Count

Thin, short content may not do as well as longer content. At least 500 words is a good start, but don’t use filler content. Make sure the content is fresh, engaging and to the point. Do your best to create robust and helpful content for your web users.
