Tweeting At Googlers Likely Won't Land You In The Google Bird House

There are some really paranoid folks out there, those that think if they post anything publicly about their web sites, it might lead to a Google penalty. Of course, if a Googler who is on the manual actions team spots your site and they see a red flag - of course it might lead to an issue. It is like speeding past a parked police car.

But folks like John Mueller and Gary Illyes are not on the manual actions team. They are here to help webmasters and guide them the right way. If you are not blatantly spamming Google, I doubt Gary or John will have someone penalize your site for doing something wrong.

The question about this came up on Twitter where one webmaster said shortly after tweeting at @johnmu, his rankings significantly dropped.

In response to that, Gary Illyes said "I strongly doubt there's any correlation between the tweet and your ranking drop."

Is it possible? Sure. But is it likely? I doubt it.
